नमस्कार मंडळी! आज मी तुमच्यासमोर आणखी एका संगीताविषयीच्या पुस्तकाचे समीक्षण घेऊन येत आहे. हे पुस्तक म्हणजे ज्येष्ठ संगीत समीक्षक आणि पत्रकार श्री. रामकृष्ण बाक्रे ह्यांच्या वृत्तपत्रे आणि मासिकांमध्ये छापून आलेल्या काही लेखांचे संकलन. काही असे कलाकार ज्यांनी अभिजात संगीताला खूप मोठे योगदान दिले त्यांच्याविषयीची हे लेख आहेत. ह्या संकलनातला पहिला लेख आहे 'प्रतिबाळकृष्ण'. प्रतिबाळकृष्ण म्हणजे काय? तर पं. बाळकृष्णबुवा इचलकरंजीकरांचे असे काही शिष्य ज्यांची गायकी बुवांच्या गायकीच्या अतिशय जवळची होती आणि ज्यांची रेकॉर्डिंग्स उपलब्ध आहेत. पण अशा लेखाशी जरूर काय? ग्वाल्हेर घराण्याचे गाणे महाराष्ट्रात रुजविण्याचे मोठे कार्य बुवांनी केले. त्यामुळे त्यांच्या घराण्याच्या अनुयायांना तसेच शास्त्रीय संगीताच्याअभ्यासकांना ते कसे गात असावेत ह्याचे कुतूहल असणे साहजिकच! परंतु दुर्दैवाने त्यांचे एकही रेकॉर्डिंग उपलब्ध नाही. पण मग त्यांचे काही ज्येष्ठ शिष्य ज्यांची गायकी त्यांच्या गायकीच्या जवळची होती त्यांची रेकॉर्डिंग्स ऐकल्याने ही उणीव काही प्रमाणात का होईना भरून निघेल असा एक विचार ह्या लेखात मा...

 Immersing oneself in a variety of musical renditions of a raga is the best way of learning it and as I delve myself into learning Raga Madhmad Sarang, a very evocative raag performed in the late afternoon, I started looking for different renditions in it. Upon searching YouTube, the first result that caught my attention was a rendition by the legendary Pandit Jasraj, a personal favorite of mine. Without hesitation, I pressed the play button, and what unfolded next was nothing short of a sublime experience.  The rendition of the bandish 'rasikani radha palana jhoolai' by him is truly celestial. Instead of simply listening to explore Madhmad Sarang, I found myself completely immersed in it. As I absorbed the performance, vivid imagery unfolded before me: the enchanting sight of Radha gracefully swaying on a swing adorned with resplendent jewels, surrounded by joyful onlookers.
